Statement in response to resolution of Castletown dispute

I know I speak not only for myself but also the whole Church of Ireland congregation of Christ Church Celbridge in saying how happy and relieved we are that the lands around Castletown house have now been reunited.  We look forward to a return to the normality that we previously enjoyed and perhaps took for granted. Castletown and its lands are a wonderful resource for our community and all those who come from near and far to visit it. This has been a very difficult time and the dispute has created considerable tension and division in our local community which has benefitted nobody. My hope and prayer is that we can all put that behind us and support the OPW in their efforts to reinstate the carpark and M4 access and restore the house and newly reunited lands to their former glory. Well done and thank you to all those who made today possible. This is a very good day for Celbridge and all those who recognise and celebrate Castletown as one of the jewels in our national heritage.

Rev’d Stephen Neill (Rector Christ Church Celbridge – Castletown)
