A Service of the Word
Greeting
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
And also with you.
Loving God, we have come to worship you.
Help us to pray to you in faith,
to sing your praise with gratitude,
and to listen to your word with eagerness;
through Christ our Lord.

Hymn
Penitential Rite
A time of silence followed by the confession
Merciful God,
we
confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart.
We have
failed to be an obedient church.
We have not done your will,
we
have broken your law,
we have rebelled against
your love,
we have not loved our
neighbours,
and we have not heard the cry of the
needy.
Forgive us, we pray.
Free us for joyful obedience,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Priest/Lay Minister:
Hear the good
news:
Christ died for us while we were yet sinners;
that
sacrifice a proclamation of God's love toward us.
Priest
In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! Glory to God. Amen.
or
Lay Minister:
In the name of Jesus Christ may we be forgiven Glory to God. Amen.
Gloria (Or other suitable hymn/canticle of praise)
Glory to God in the
highest,
and peace to God's people on earth.
Lord God, heavenly
King,
almighty God and Father,
we worship you, we give you
thanks,
we praise you for your glory.
Lord Jesus Christ, only
Son of the Father,
Lord God, Lamb of God,
you take away the sin
of the world:
have mercy on us;
you are seated at the right
hand of the Father,
receive our prayer.
For you alone are the
Holy One,
you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most
High,
Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,
in the glory of God
the Father. Amen.

The Sermon
The Apostles Creed
I believe in God,
the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in
Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the
Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius
Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended to the
dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into
heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he
will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the
Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of
saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the
body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Offertory Hymn
Prayer at Offertory
Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation; through your goodness we have these gifts to offer, the fruit of our labour and of the skills you have given us. Take us and our possessions to do your work in the world.
Blessed be God for ever.
The Prayers
The Lord be with
you
and also with you.
Let us pray. (Kneel)
Lord, have
mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Our
Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom
come,
thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us
this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses
as we
forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into
temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
